San Luis Potosí travel guide
San Luis Potosí city and Real de Catorce offer two different visits within the same state. The capital’s plazas, Centro de las Artes and Museo Leonora Carrington centre on urban culture. Real de Catorce’s tunnel, mining landscape and pilgrimage traditions require a separate journey and a different pace.

In the capital, arrange museum opening times around a walk through the historic plazas. In Real de Catorce, check arrival and local transfer arrangements before booking, and ask about steps, slopes and luggage handling. The route into town is part of the practical planning, not simply a detail to solve on arrival.
Plan the visit around your route
Treat ceremonies and sacred places respectfully, and do not assume independent access to every surrounding landscape. For other parts of the state, the official directory introduces additional destinations. Choose one region at a time rather than combining distant city, highland and nature experiences into an unrealistic short itinerary.
