From a printed planner to a world of possibilities
The American Tour Association began with a travel publication and grew into an extensive collection of itineraries and destination resources. The Group Tour Planner first appeared in print in 1987 and went online in 1989.
Our focus has always been on the details that make a journey memorable: a smaller town, a local festival, a welcoming restaurant, or a remarkable place beyond the usual tourist route.
Curiosity takes us further.
Hidden places
Small towns, remote villages, quiet natural wonders and overlooked historic sites bring another dimension to an itinerary.
Local culture
Festivals, traditions and conversations with local people help visitors understand a destination beyond its landmarks.
Welcoming hosts
Hotels, restaurants and travel suppliers are an essential part of a journey—and of our travel community.
Travel that supports the places we visit
Meeting local artists and craftspeople can turn a visit into a meaningful cultural exchange. Choosing locally made goods helps support community livelihoods and preserve artistic traditions.
We value thoughtful travel that brings visitors and hosts together with curiosity and respect.
