An original roadbook idea, carefully carried forward

Seattle & Issaquah, your first night.

Keep the useful idea behind ATA’s Issaquah stop, then choose a base that suits the route you actually plan to drive.

Why Issaquah was in the roadbook

The original guide chose an I-90 base east of Seattle, with supermarkets and restaurants nearby. That can make sense before continuing east, while a downtown or airport stay may suit a different itinerary. Issaquah is a separate drive from SEA, not an airport-terminal hotel district.

Although the Motel 6 is clearly visible from the Interstate, finding the entrance is slightly tricky.

That practical observation remains useful: save the property’s exact entrance before leaving the airport and check it against current directions. The original recommendation is retained below, rather than presented as a new inspection.

A little more than a bed for the night

Issaquah’s hatchery provides a local introduction to salmon and their life cycle. The visitor organization describes outdoor exhibits, viewing areas and the creek. Salmon returns are seasonal; a visit outside the run is a different experience.

Recommended First Night Accommodation for Seattle, Washington State

Motel 6, Issaquah

Issaquah is a modern and affluent suburb of Seattle northeast of Sea-Tac airport, on I-90. There are several supermarkets and restaurants near the Motel 6.

Although the Motel 6 is clearly visible from the Interstate, finding the entrance is slightly tricky.

The above is only one idea - there are of course a vast number of other possibilities.
